We watched Amelie last night. It's a gentle French movie with superb atmosphere, great script and characters and off-beat storyline with matching production. It made us laugh and cry and the cinematic devices and subtleties are just amazing. We loved it - very highly recommended.

Segway - what was known as Ginger.
Hmm, the Segway Human Transport, or SHT. I'm sure they need to put an "injection" in there somewhere......

tea.com - superb!
I love tea. It's great. Now you can view the tea FAQ which will answer amazing questions like "What is tea?" and "Should I put milk in my tea?". You can even go to a "Tea Preparation" bulletin board or jump to a realtime chat room.
Fantastic. I love tea.

Blair doll is a heroic failure - weirdness abounds. The actual product website is here.
Talk about questionable taste......... Who in the name of crap buys these things? (in the case of our man Blair, nobody, evidently).

Bikerland offers an incredibly useful index of B&B's in the UK that offer secure facilities for motorcyclists.
Well, it's incredibly useful if you ride a motorbike and might want a B&B somewhere, anyway.........

Last night I was surfing and found a link to imnotinsane.com. This in turn linked to doodie.com, which features very weird cartoons about defecating.
The cartoons at the doodie site did more to convince me that this bloke is not right in the head than the self-proclamation at imnotinsane (although the video took so long to download from imnotinsane that I gave up and never saw what happened when he met the two girls in the car, so I'll keep trying in case he is a proper headcase).
Anyway, it got me thinking about jackass, which is a tip-top TV show. The doodie guy has evidently not seen Johnny Knoxville and crew in full effect. Proper nutters, committed to the cause, the lot of them. Watch it on TV - highly recommended.

After Jimlad's blog about a floppy-based Mac server, I had to post this. Unfortunately it doesn't run on potatoes any more, but one AAA battery is pretty good work.

1 Giant Leap - this is where the "My Culture" single with Maxi Jazz and Robbie Williams came from. Interesting concept, promising album, nice website.

Check this out. If you're a person who grew up in the 80's and used computers, there will be some fond memories awaiting.......

If you get your electricity from npower, you can now sign up for juice which is electricity from an environmentally friendly source (wind power).
Obviously, this doesn't mean that you actually get electricity that has been generated that way - they're not going to re-cable your house so it draws direct from North Hoyle - but it does show the corporates that we like the idea of green power and that we'll buy into it.
Right on kids.

Microsoft continue to make life difficult for Lindows - "we lost a case against you, but we're richer so we'll drag it through the courts again to bankrupt you.......".
Twats.

If you use Kazaa it has installed some naughty software on your PC. Nothing that will give you any problems - it's actually not a bad idea, but they really should tell you what they're up to....

I do like to see technology being applied practically in the real world to address real issues that bother me........

An update on Lindows:
"We've spent a considerable amount of time with our
upcoming version of LindowsOS making sure that it will handle many of the
computing tasks and file types that people have grown accustomed to using.
Users of our Sneak Preview 2 (SP2) will be greeted with a pleasing interface
which will handle browsing and email. More impressively, it will handle
common file formats - even those proprietary to Microsoft. It's now
commonplace for Microsoft Word ".doc" files, Microsoft Excel ".xls" and
Microsoft PowerPoint ".ppt" files to be sent as attachments or posted on
public web sites. LindowsOS users can view and print these files without
buying any additional software."
You can test a list of file formats LindowsOS handles by visiting:

My archives have got messed up, so these are just some re-blogged choice links that I didn't want to lose:

Aesthetically pleasing online calculator.

Some weird stuff to look at here.

Check out this 3D interactive dolphin - very calming and therapeutic.
Beautiful.

Mr Bulley found this; a much less geek-intensive page than my original GoogleWhack link !! (blogged below, Mon Feb 11th).

Another splendid news article.

StarTrek.net - could this be the ISP for Jim?.........

If you're not a complete IT geek, you probably won't get on with UserFriendly.org.
However, if you are, then Erwin was created by the dust puppy back in 1998. He was a PC, then an original iMac in a dream, and then used to live in a Silicon Graphics O2, but now he's been reincarnated as a new iMac.
(This happened back in February, but I haven't tuned in for a while).
