gaim.
I have used gaim on an occasional basis for some time now, as it lets me talk to my iChat and AIM buddies from Linux. However, I didn't realise just how much the recent version can do:
"Gaim is a multi-protocol instant messaging client for Linux, BSD, MacOS X, and Windows. It is compatible with AIM (Oscar and TOC protocols), ICQ, MSN Messenger, Yahoo, IRC, Jabber, Gadu-Gadu, and Zephyr networks".
Looks like Trillian have a competitor.......
