Barney's blog. Just a load of old shite really.

OK, another post that is just a bunch of links, but it's all quality stuff ;)
First, Red Hat have released Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5. Lots of healthy Open Source goodness to feast on, but I haven't had the opportunity to play with it yet so I'll refer you to Linux Format who have.
I make no secret of the fact that I use a Mac as my client of choice, and use Linux wherever possible and appropriate (which is quite a bit). I often get asked about viruses and spyware by Windows users and get an incredulous or sceptical response when I explain that it's just not a problem on UNIX-based systems like Linux and OS X. This is a very pro-Linux article written by a geek for geeks that exlains why this is. It's a bit evangelical, but makes a good read if you're interested in such things.
Next, I recently watched The Great Global Warming Swindle on the tellybox, which was very, very interesting. It's also interesting to me that the reaction to intelligent, respected and qualified people expressing an opinion on this issue can be so severe. In fact, it pretty much lends additional credibility to the programme's argument.
Also read about this bloke who pranged his brother's car. I don't think he'll ever hear the end of that one.
Oh, and Microsoft quietly released Service Pack 2 for Windows Server 2003. This I have installed - it seems like a bit of a monster patch (over 300MB), but hasn't done anything squiffy to the cleanly built servers that I have applied it on. (Yet). That said, it does regress some previous patches, apparently.
