Barney's blog. Just a load of old shite really.

PC Pro is a UK PC magazine, and is probably the best of the bunch. What has caught my eye this month is the Office Suites Labs, where various Office Suites are compared and reviewed.
Now, that sounds like pretty boring stuff, and indeed it is. But what is exciting is that the winner (and new PC Pro "A-List" Office Suite) is Open Office 1.1.2.
This is exciting because
(a) PC Pro are self-confessed Microsoft fans / advocates / fanatics, and
(b) Open Office is Open Source.
It is a sign of change (I hope) when even PCPro are advocating the use of Open Source alternatives over Microsoft software, and is good news because they are publicising the cause. I just hope people start giving it a go (note that OpenOffice is still too clunky on OS X as it uses X11, so unless you're a geek, I wouldn't bother using it on the Mac just yet).
