barnskiblog

Barney's blog. Just a load of old shite really.

Real Networks are to offer Ogg Vorbis support in their products with help from Xiph.
If that sounds like gibberish, then Ogg Vorbis is a good, healthy and nutritious Open Source compressed audio format that will (hopefully) compete with mp3.
We like Open Source because it promotes invention to meet the needs of the masses rather than the bank accounts of the mega-corporations. "Companies must not be allowed to use the infrastructure we all depend upon as a weapon against their rivals to the detriment of all others." For more, see the Xiph page or the Open Source Initiative.
Now I just need to get my sound card working properly under Linux......
